KIPBan (Kisuke IP Ban) is a service that joins your Windows and Linux servers into one network, so an attacker caught guessing passwords on one server is blocked on all the others within 5 minutes.
Why it exists
KIPBan was built by the people who run the servers it protects. Our own fleet is attacked around the clock: about 500 new attacking IPs a day, hitting RDP, SSH, mail, databases and web applications. Every tool we tried protected one machine at a time, so each server had to learn about the same botnet separately. We wanted a ban on one server to protect all of them, on Windows and Linux alike, and we built that.
What you can check for yourself
- It was built on live servers. We developed and debugged KIPBan on a fleet of about 20 Windows and Linux servers under constant attack, and tested every feature on real traffic.
- You can see what it installs. On Windows the agent is compiled from source on your own server, with no downloaded binaries. Every file, service, firewall rule and network connection is described in What the KIPBan agent installs, together with how to remove it.
- It sends very little. The attacker's IP and the ban duration, plus basic server metrics once a day. The agent opens no inbound ports. Details are in the Privacy policy.
- It builds on tools you already trust. On Linux KIPBan works on top of your fail2ban rather than replacing it, and we publish honest comparisons with CrowdSec and IPBan.
- Trying it costs nothing. The first two servers are free with no card, so you can see it work on real traffic before paying anything.
How we run the service
- Pay only for what you use. A prepaid balance in USD, charged by the day for connected servers only. There is no subscription and nothing renews on its own. Payment is by cryptocurrency; see payment, access and cancelling.
- Nothing sudden if the balance runs out. Everything keeps working for 7 days, and bans already placed stay in force.
- A real person answers. Write to support@kipban.com for help with connecting servers or billing, or to info@kipban.com for anything else.
